Was that "piracy" or "privacy"?

William D. Lawson

Research output: Contribution to journalReview articlepeer-review

Responses of various people surveyed regarding an order to be followed by Gwen, a supervisor, to make technical change in the system to enable Lawrence, the managing principal of NorthLink Consultants, access all the e-mail files on each of the PCs, are presented. Some people are of the view that Gwen should comply willingly as the employees are using company equipment to make personal e-mail transmittals. Some people think that Gwen should stifle her conscience and abide by Lawrence's request. Others feel that Gwen should refuse to access the e-mail files for Lawrence in the manner he has requested on the basis that his action is unethical.
