Abstract

There is a surge in the use of video display terminals (VDTs) by all types of organizations. This paper examines the ergonomics of VDT's and provides useful guidelines for users. A survey was conducted to determine the effects of wide spread use of VDT's on workers. The survey results indicated that the restructuring of the work process including work-rest schedules represent a priority in progressive VDT research. This is the new challenge for industrial engineers in designing the work environment.
