Abstract
Infusion of the uterus is most commonly performed to deposit semen into the uterus of the mare as part of an artificial insemination program. In addition, it may be used for the instillation of antibiotics, n-acetylcysteine, Tris-EDTA, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), or other drugs or compounds. Infusion may be performed with a pipette and syringe or may utilize extension tubing between a pipette and a small bag of fluids. This chapter summarizes the step by step procedure for infusion of the uterus with illustrations, and lists equipment and supplies needed. It discusses necessary condition for the infusion of the uterus.
