Abstract
The twist viscosity has been measured in a binary liquid-crystal mixture above the nematicsmectic-C transition near the nematicsmectic-Asmectic-C multicritical point using the dynamic Fréedericksz deformation and found to exhibit a monotonic divergence. This study also shows that the splay elastic constant has a relatively mild temperature dependence compared with that of the bend elastic constant.
