Abstract
This article reviews the various factors involved in tornado-resistant design and evaluates their relevance in light of current design criteria. THe AEC design-basis tornado and its implications are discussed, with specific reference to occurrence and intensity data, tornado-wind models, tornado-structure interaction, and tornado-generated missiles.
