Abstract
The virtual library offers new and exciting challenges to librarians, scholars, and students. Librarians will play a key role in organizing and putting the virtual library together. They will also play the role of educator about the virtual library. While some librarians see the virtual library as a threat to their job security, it is unlikely that the need for them will disappear anytime soon. The virtual library offers the potential for humanity/s collective memory to be stored in digital format. However, books and journals continue to be published in print form and libraries continue to buy them. Many electronic journals don/t have the prestige that their print counterparts do.
