"The Pope, Plainchant, and Peaceful Meditation"

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The recent surge of interest in plainchant can be interpreted in view of both Pope Benedict’s encouragement of the use of the pre-Vatican II Latin liturgy, and the burgeoning global interest in sacred chant traditions. This examination of present trends in chant practice in both liturgical and secular settings includes material from interviews conducted by the author with prominent scholars and performers in the field of historical performance.
