The Impact of Social and Emotional Intelligence Competencies on Membership Motivation in AAFCS

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Of the many challenges professional associations are facing today, membership recruitment and retention is at the top. Why is this a perennial challenge for associations, including AAFCS? From what I have seen this year as your president, I believe it is for the following reasons, both at the state and national levels: (1) meeting the needs of prospective and current members; (2) lack of member engagement with the organization; and (3)the membership generation gap. In order to resolve these challenges, we should explore how social and emotional intelligence competencies affect membership motivation in AAFCS.
