Abstract

A formal role as monoene and also as diene by utilizing the mesityl substituent is possible for the unstable silene 1. In the absence of scavengers, 1 dimerizes in an unusual [2 + 4] reaction to form 2 as soon as it is prepared from (Me3Si)3SiC(OH)Mes. (Figure Presented.)
