Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the effects of La Nina and El Nino on the outbreaks of tornadoes using statistical hypothesis testing. The data used in this study was taken from the archives at the Storm Prediction Center (SPC). Various testing techniques such as the F-test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and the resample test were applied to the number of tornadoes and the number of tornadic days based on historical data.
