Abstract
In this article, I explore the state of the Mexican American detective story, in particular as it applies to the young adult Mexican American reader. I argue that Mexican American young readers are more likely to read in the mystery genre because they, like all other young people, are attracted to the puzzles that are mysteries, and because these titles are culturally relevant. Unfortuately, my findings show only a handful of such titles available to young Mexican American readers.
