Synthesis and structure of boron-bithiazole complexes

Abstract

The syntheses of the first reported p-block complexes of the bithiazole moiety are reported, namely [(tBuBTz)BBr 2 ][Br] (3), and [(PhBTz)BBr 2 ][Br] (4) (tBuBTz = 4,4′-di-tert-butyl-2,2′- bithiazole and PhBTz = 4,4′-diphenyl-2,2′-bithiazole). Compounds 3 and 4 were prepared via reaction of equimolar quantities of the appropriate bithiazole ligand with BBr 3 . The molecular structures of 3, and the known compound PhBTz (2) were established using single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. Copyright © 2010 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
