Abstract
The mean flow and turbulence characteristics at the lower heights within an urban street canyon are investigated. The results show that the flow characteristics in the lowest few meters in an urban street canyon are strongly dependent on the mean incident upwind direction. The magnitude of the momentum fluxes is low for the lowest few meters of an urban street canyon due to almost equal contributions from all the quadrants. The magnitude of the vertical component is always positive at the lowest few meters of the urban street canyon.
