Abstract

Analysis of the (00l) X-ray diffractograms of well staged graphite-ZnCl2 compounds with stages n = 4 and 5 reveals structural information concerning these compounds. The Ic separation between intercalated layers is observed. The FWHM values for analysed intercalated specimens were found to be not significantly different from the values for pristine graphite. The results from (00l) X-ray diffraction together with the Ic values for the reflection with maximum intensity were used as a method for stage identification.
