    Abstract

Previous simulation work has shown that the addition of wind turbine capacity to a remote photovoltaic power system can, in most cases, lower the cost of delivered energy. This is due to both the decreased PV capacity required, and also the reduced storage requirements in a hybrid system. A discussion is presented of the effects of storage requirements on system design using both TMY and actual site date from El Paso, Texas.
