Abstract
Visually clear and degraded items were presented to test the hypotheses that (1) items clear on original presentation would be recognized better than items degraded on original presentation, and (2) increasing the number of sensory modalities used during both presentation and test increases recognition capability. Some support for the degradation hypothesis was obtained. Increasing the number of modalities significantly improved recognition.
