Abstract

Various derivatives of 1,2'z-(B5H8)2 and 2,2'z-(B5H8)2 were produced via halogenationand deprotonation reactions. The rearrangement of the parent compounds and some of their derivatives was studied in the presence of Lewis bases. Cleavage of the intercage bond in 1,2'z(B5H8)2 was observed in the presence of halogens and hydrogen halides, while boron-boron-bond cleavage was not observed in 2,2'z-(B5H8)2.
