Abstract

In this paper, we address issues that are pertinent to the improvement of software engineering curricula. We submit that a key impediment to the development of new courses and curricula and the advancement of software engineering education is the lack of guidance and support for such development. In this paper we propose the creation of a set of "Guidelines for Software Education". We outline the content of such Guidelines and discuss some initial steps in defining the body of knowledge that is a foundation for the Guidelines.
