Abstract
The general issues involved in choosing an efficient complex absorbing potentials (CAPs) are addressed. A quantitative a priori estimate of the efficiency that may be expected of any given CAP is provided. Finally, a new procedure for determining CAPs of optimal efficiency is introduced.
