Abstract

Born out of biochemistry, Rolfing is the physical manipulation of the body’s soft tissues to improve the alignment of the body leading to a healthier mind and body connection; thus enhancing general health and wellbeing. Based on the life work of Ida P. Rolf, Rolfing is a combination of osteopathy, biomechanics, and psychotherapy to improve the overall physical and emotional wellness of patients. Rolf contended that restricted movement and bad posture have a causal relationship with poor emotional and behavioral conditions. Therefore, improving the physical “body” will increase the likelihood of a “well” mind.
