Abstract
A rhodium(III)-catalyzed [4+1] cyclization between aroyl sulfoxonium ylides and anthranils has been developed, offering a wide range of new aldehyde-containing N-arylisatins in good to excellent yields. The highlight of this reaction shows the construction of two C−N and one C=O bonds through [4+1] annulation consisted of C−H activation, ring opening of anthranils and oxygen insertion.
