Abstract

The millimeter-wave (mm-Wave) 5G hardware design requirements are considerably tougher to meet compared to their sub-6 GHz 5G counterparts, especially on the stringent power efficiency, linearity, bandwidth and cost. For the next generation 6G that utilizes Terahertz (THz) communication, its hardware design specs are expected to be even more challenging, putting a tremendous amount of pressure on the RF hardware design communities. In this paper, we will highlight some key challenges and opportunities on mm-Wave 5G and 6G hardware design for the upcoming 5G/6G revolutions.
