This paper presents a summary of the current work associated with the prediction of fatigue life of offshore structures. Various approaches based on elastic line, distortion energy theory, linear elastic theory, random decrement technique have been summarized. In addition, fatigue design considerations for deepwater fixed platforms and semi-submersible platforms are reviewed. Finally, current usage of the fracture mechanics approach to fatigue life prediction is assessed.
