Resolution of a paradox concerning the forward and reverse rate constants for C2H5 ⇄ H + C2H4

Abstract

Results of recent ab initio calculations and a revised value for the ethyl radical heat of formation are used in an analysis of the rate constants for the C2H5 ⇄ H + C2H4 system. It is found that RRKM and activated complex theory rate constants agree with the experimental ones for both the recombination and dissociation reactions.
