Abstract

Leslie Moody Castro - a high-profile independent curator based in both Mexico City and Texas, with an amplitude of contemporary projects to her name (among them, the 2017 Texas Biennial) - served as guest curator for Artists for Artists, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Houston, TX, in mounting a virtual exhibition of works from 10 Texas artists. I was approached by Moody Castro to take part in Repose, "a digital exhibition [that asks], 'What does it mean to exist in a world where touch incites fear?'", for which a fully navigable, scaled, 3D virtual gallery environment was built. She selected two works produced in my collaborative enterprise with Lando Valdez: "Clipping" and "Parallel Play / commixtion / Emma, Ghi". Lando and I recorded a video statement, remarking on our work and our participation in the show, as well as our pandemic experience and the social and political events (devastations) at the fore of public life and public discourse. The video was released at the exhibition's opening reception.
URL, exhibition:https://www.artists4artists.org/reposeexhibition
