Abstract

The article discusses the diversity of political institutions in Islamic societies and identifies the factors leading to democracy in Bangladesh. It recommends that US foreign policy recognize and encourage national movements toward democracy in Islamic countries, rather than rely on militarized efforts to install democratic regimes.
