Abstract
Helping the student streamline the development program requires the formulation of the design of the program before actual code could be written in a senior level file structure course. The design component becomes necessary as the instructor watches students not complete the more complex B-tree and hashing programs. The design component also confirms the correct or incorrect thought processes of the students so that incorrect notions could be corrected before programming is completed. The design process undertaken by the students is analyzed as to how it helped the students to understand the file structure concept better.
