Abstract
The problem of predicting degradation of the insulation of electric heaters and its lifetime from its operating temperature is considered. A cylindrical model of a heated thick-wall coil insulated on the inside and outside for the prediction of insulation temperature as well as heater temperature is presented. These temperatures, in turn, let designers determine insulation life.
