Abstract
The piece begins with an explanation of how the standard rules for Pandemic as well as a fan-made scenario specific to COVID-19 help illustrate the importance of social distancing as a means of flattening the curve of the disease. It concludes by arguing that both of these versions of Pandemic assume a public health response that is guided by scientific rather than political principles and then offers a new scenario for players to explore how politics has affected the way that the crisis was initially framed, the way that resources to fight the spread of disease have been allocated, and the way that the transition out of quarantine is being handled by turning real-world examples from the Trump administration's response efforts into in-game event cards.
