Perineal Conformation Evaluation

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Perineal conformation evaluation is an integral part of the mare breeding soundness examination and should be performed in any mare presented for reproductive evaluation. Defects in perineal conformation may predispose the reproductive tract to inflammation and infection. Defects in perineal conformation are most often remedied by performing vulvoplasty. This chapter outlines the step by step procedure for performing perineal conformation evaluation with illustrations, and the equipment and supplies needed. It describes the necessary condition for performing perineal conformation evaluation of mare.
