Abstract

Addition of halogens, X2, to hydrocarbon solutions of [(Me 3SiCH2)2W(μ-CSiMe3)]2 leads to the novel paramagnetic WVI containing compounds [X(Me 3SiCH2)2W(μ-CSiMe3)] 2, where X = Cl, Br, and I, which contain tungsten atoms in a pseudo trigonal bipyramidal environment (X axial) joined along a common axial-equatorial edge by the μ-CSiMe3 ligands (W-W 2.75 Å).
