Abstract
A nonlocal potential, which reproduces the single-particle levels in the lead region along the line of β-stability has been used for the shell model calculation to discuss the stability property of 126X228 and other superheavy elements. Shell closures for β-stable nucleus at Z = 126 and N = 228 are obtained in agreement with the recently observed controversial species in that region. Half-lives and α-decay energies are also estimated.
