Abstract

The objective of the present investigation is to solve turbulent, separated flows by coupling standard and low Reynolds number k-ε models. The coupling is achieved through multi block approach. For the case of turbulent flow over backward facing step, the multi block and multi model procedure predicted the reattachment point more accurately compared to conventional single model predictions. Nusselt number predictions down stream of backward facing step are compared between different cases. The present multi block algorithm is suitable to implement on a parallel processing computer, and its another objective is to divide the complex computational domains into blocks, such that each block is topologically simple.
