Abstract

"parallel play /commixtion/ Emma, Ghi" - a large work of drawing and collage, executed in collaboration with Lando Valdez - was selected for inclusion in Models in Motion, a virtual exhibition juried by Jim Morphesis and presented by the San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center. Based in Los Angeles, Morphesis is "considered one of the most influential members of the expressionist art movement in Southern California. His paintings have been shown in forty-five solo exhibitions and in more than one hundred and thirty invitational group exhibitions in museums & galleries that include: the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Queens Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the State Museum of Contemporary Art in Thessalonica, Greece. [His work] can be seen in the permanent collections of thirty museums including: the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the Oakland Museum of California, the Phoenix Museum of Art, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. [...] Morphesis has been recognized with awards that include: the Los Angeles County Museum of Art New Talent Award, the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grant for Painting, and a First Prize at the Fourth Florence International Biennial of Contemporary Art." Morphesis awarded our work the Best in Show monetary prize.
