Abstract
A two-dimensional nonhydrostatic model of the breeze circulation is used for modeling the transport in a water channel of the gravity current induced by an initial density difference. Comparison between the numerical results and the results of laboratory experiments on gravity currents shows their good agreement, which allows the model to be used both for analyzing features of the currents of a similar kind in different conditions and for calculating breeze characteristics.
