Abstract

Solid-state interaction forces between lithium ions and between lithium ion and several substrates during intercalation were investigated. At first, equations were derived, which provide the activity term representative of the interaction forces from experimental data of the open-circuit potential (OCV). Then, the sensitivity of the activity term to the statistically fitted data was discussed. A systematic procedure for the determination of the solid-state interaction forces during lithium intercalation was proposed and applied to lithium intercalation in a single spherical particle of Mn 2O 4.
