title = "Minimization of refrigeration power requirements for mechanical supports in cryogenic systems",
abstract = "A solution scheme is presented for minimization of the refrigeration power required for mechanical supports in cryogenic systems where refrigeration shields at intermediate temperatures are installed along the supports. The total refrigeration power requirement is minimized in terms of the temperatures and locations of the shields. The scheme involves the simultaneous solution of algebraic equations and is simpler than previous methods. Tabular solutions for optimal shield temperatures and locations are presented for several materials.",
