Abstract

Mike Steinel, Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas since 1987, retired at the conclusion of the 2018-2019 academic year. On March 3rd, he performed a farewell concert which included an ensemble comprised UNT faculty and leading alumni from the UNT School of Music Division of Jazz Studies over the last 40 years. I had the honor of being invited to perform with this distinguished collection of artists.
