Abstract
Though articles have been written about Mexican American adolescent literature, many, if not all of them treat this literature as multicultural or as ethnic, to be used for literacy purposes. I contend that Mexican American students would benefit more if this literature would be treated instead as literature like the works of Chris Crutcher and Terry Trueman, among others.
