Abstract
A technique to determine in-vitro mitral valve (MV) strains in the central region of the anterior leaflet was developed. Porcine mitral valves obtained from a local abattoir were used. The results showed that the valve's collagen fiber architecture played a major role in the response of the leaflet tissue to dynamic loading.
