Making Today

Abstract

I was one of three artistic practitioners local to Lubbock who was invited to lead a walk around town in order to guide a visiting artist, Scherezade Garcia, through Lubbock's present, past, and potential future. I guided six participants through Downtown Lubbock from the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts to the West Texas Hall of Fame and the Buddy Holly Museum, exploring a variety of streets, alleys, displays, and businesses along the way. While my participation was limited to March 22nd, 2022, the larger group of artists and residents (including students enrolled at TTU's School of Art) enjoyed three days of participation resulting in a collaborative mural that is currently on display in the School of Art.
