Abstract

Children with visual impairments and multiple disabilities make up approximately 65% of the population of school-aged children who are identified with visual impairments; however, there is little research on literacy development for this population. A review of the literature revealed 9 studies that included students with visual impairments and additional disabilities in literacy research. An initial exploration of themes within this grouping of studies was conducted.
