Leading for social justice: Notes from the field

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The author shares the words of wisdom that she calls notes from the field that she received from her mother, ancestors, mentors, and those drum majors for justice (e.g., Mary McCleod Bethune, Martin Luther King Jr., Fredrick Douglass, and Cornell West). She uses passages and excerpts from prior works to demonstrate how she has used the knowledge she garnered from these eight sets of notes from the field in her academic success as an African American female in the ivory tower and as an activist scholar, educator, and servant in multicultural social justice.
