Abstract

Comparison is made between prescribed failure rate functions and their estmators based on pseudorandom samples containing tied and cnsored observations. The U-shaped, unimodal and bimodal failure rate functions were studied. Some practical ways for improving the proposed estimation procedure are descussed.
