The next facet of the textile industry is to focus on global appeal and performance. The textile industry in developed economies as well developing economies is accepting this change, with low price being no more the winning formula. The industry needs to invest in process and product innovations by employing multidisciplinary talents in creating products such as comfort rich synthetics, light-weight military clothing, bug resistant filters, and facemasks. Active cooperation between research and development institutions and the industry can lead to enhanced-value products. Professional societies such as AATCC can provide the much needed knowledge-gaining and -sharing for product innovation through networking opportunities. AATCC aids the industry across the entire supply chain through its Materials, Chemical Applications, and Concept 2 Consumer (C2C) interest groups.
