Abstract
Evaluation of the modulation transfer functions of human eye-retina-brain imaging systems with nonfunctional foveas demonstrates the contribution of the parafoveal regions to human spatial vision. The ability of the parafoveal regions to attain normal complete summation only in the low spatial frequency domain is consistent with retinal inhomogeneity.
