Abstract

Human head, the upper portion of the human body, is of great importance to human vision, motion, and respiratory. Human head modeling is to use computational methods to construct a human head for engineering design. This chapter presents the human head modeling and its applications. One application is head injury prediction that aims to accurately predict injury and enable helmet designers to study the impact of changes made to the geometry and materials. Another application is the respirator design that attempts to use high biofidelity head models to simulate the contact pressure between the human face and a respirator. Next application is human posture prediction that aims for vehicle interior design.
