Abstract

The paper deals with the topics of interpolation such that function continuity is maintained at the interelement boundaries; certain important properties of these interpolation functions; sub- or iso- or superparametric geometric transformations for elements with curved boundaries, and properties of such transformations; a discussion of problems with singularities for derivatives of the field variable; and special and singular finite elements to treat problems of this kind.
