Abstract
"Guns Up, Guns Down: A Cultural Response to Campus Carry" is an evening of art and literature in response to and in consideration of the state's campus carry legislation (Senate BIll 11), which goes into effect in August of 2016. Members of the Texas Tech community, no matter their views on the subject, are wrestling with the reality of this legislation as the University devises policies for implimentation. This event is an opportunity for artists and writers of all backgrounds to weigh in and share their thoughts on the matter through creativity and self-expression. Information on a variety of topics, including similar legislation in other states as well as gun safety, gun violence, and gun ownership, will be woven throughout. ALL are invited to intend with open hearts and minds.
