Abstract
The International Building Code (ICC 2000) standard on minimum design loads for buildings and other structures is discussed. The code gives details of calculations of wind loads to let the reader interpret the wind load provisions. The code contains details on expansion of simplifies procedures, load cases for main wind force resisting systems (MWFRS), and introduces surface roughness length to define exposure coefficients. However the code does not considers speeds in reference to direction, and potential wind speed anomalies are defined in terms of special wind regions.
